Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Immersion

Media Lab BR is an interactive media development laboratory at the Federal University of Goiás, combining cutting-edge technology and academic research to create an innovative learning environment. In this space, I had the opportunity to explore and develop interactive applications, experimenting with new forms of digital engagement.

Among the technologies I worked with, I highlight the Emotiv Epoc, used for research involving brain data applied to digital interaction. I also had the opportunity to develop 360° content and test immersive applications with the Oculus Development Kit 2. Additionally, I explored the Leap Motion, an advanced hand and finger motion sensor, expanding the possibilities of interaction in virtual environments.

The permanent exhibition 'Cora Coralina: Heart of Brazil' marks a new concept of the museum - it no longer showcases Cora's way of life but presents poetry in a modern space. Celebrating the 60 years since Cora returned from São Paulo to permanently reside in Goiás, the interventions offer visitors a poetic journey through the verses of the Goian poet. Her poetry is now seen in the air, in the water, and on the walls of the house, like a continuous pulse of matter that makes the poetess, the pseudonym of Ana Bretas from Vila Boa, vibrate and remain alive.

The media interventions were developed in five areas of the house: waiting room, kitchen, water source, writing/documentation room, and exit room. To the new character implemented in the House, Professor Cleomar Rocha characterizes it as a sensitive, pulsating experience, a way to incorporate poetry into new multimedia systems in its vibrant, visual, and auditory state. "The project revisits the notion that poetry is on the walls, in the water of the water source, in the smoke from the stove where Cora used to make her sweets," adds the professor.

  • Development of prototypes for the poetry installation in the kitchen smoke.
  • Development of the videomap for the poetry on the tree.

A-fetus

A-fetus is an interactive installation in which a human figure in fetal position reacts to the visitor's approach. The presence of someone calms the fetus, while absence is felt as lack of affection, creating convulsive movement.

Fetus, affection, proximity, wakefulness, and care are the themes explored in the installation. Its soundscape is based on a heartbeat that responds in the same intensity as the fetus: calm in someone's presence, and accelerating in their absence.

HumanMapping Ars Electronica Festival — Linz, Austria, September 9–13, 2026

Three artworks by artist-researchers from the Media Lab / Iberoamérica network were selected for the HumanMapping exhibition at Ars Electronica Festival 2026 — the world's leading art and technology festival.

C3 Cubes

The C3 Cubes are a set of three cubes that emit distinct signals depending on the interaction among themselves or with the user. Thus, lights, sounds, and vibrations are generated by the movement of the cubes. The goal is to create mini-games, experimenting with the interactions between cubes and players.

Each cube has an Arduino board inside, equipped with a gyroscope, LED strips, and radiofrequency boards. The external structure of the cubes was created using PVC pipes, elbows, and screws. Chronotipos installation

Chronotipos

Chronotypes is an interactive installation composed of seven clocks that mark the time of the interactor based on proximity sensors. The clocks cease to mark the chronology of a single time and choose to adhere to the multiplicity of individual times; the clocks mark the time of those who gaze upon them.

As a whole, the installation points to the various and intricate times of each person, in markings that reveal in the mirrors of the dials the tuning fork of their unique cadence. It is a reading of plural times, represented in a singular manner.

The installation was exhibited in Petrópolis, during the 15th edition of the Sesc Winter Festival - Brazil

Cora Coralina: Heart of Brazil

An itinerant exhibition titled 'Cora Coralina: Heart of Brazil' was showcased at the Votuporanga Literary Festival (FLIV) in 2016. This exhibition includes a floor plan project of the Casa de Cora Coralina, with floor markings designating the rooms, and the furniture symbolically represents the poet's life in her home. The exhibition also features representations of some installations found in the museum, such as a typewriter, a stove, and a virtual reality tour of the museum.
